Seed and finely chop the apple. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Wash and hull the strawberries; cut away any unripe or over ripe portions. Put strawberries in 3 quart microwave safe bowl with high sides. Gently mash strawberries with potato masher. Stir in apple and sugar. Cover loosely with waxed paper. Microwave on high for 5 minutes; stir well. Remove cover; microwave on high for 15 to 20 minutes or until thick, stirring every 3 to 5 minutes. Skim foam from mixture as needed. Stir in lemon juice.
